Dialysis Home Training

Training for home hemodialysis typically lasts 3–4 weeks, 5 days a week, with 4.5–5 hour sessions. We offer individualized instruction to equip you and your care partner with all the skills necessary to successfully complete hemodialysis at home. To ensure that your transition from receiving treatment in an office environment to receiving it at home is seamless, we take extra care. If any troubleshooting is required while the treatment is being administered, nursing help is available around-the-clock.

At our facility, a home visit is not necessary prior to beginning home dialysis unless the referring doctor has concerns about the suitability of your residence. Prior to beginning home dialysis, we can gladly conduct a home visit if you are concerned about the suitability of your house so that your concerns can be addressed.

There will undoubtedly be a time of adjustment after you start home dialysis as you fit new duties into your schedule. If you have any questions or issues, we are here to help. Depending on the sort of home dialysis you receive, you will come to our facility once or twice a month. Your doctor, nurse, social worker, and nutritionist will be present when you meet with them. They will evaluate your lab results, adjust your regimen as necessary, and listen to any concerns you may have. A PD nurse and an HHD nurse are available to assist you if you have any questions or concerns beyond regular business hours.
